I just came across this post, was wondering if you ever resolved your radio coupler issue? Having a very similar issue with mine in my J.

So I still have my Century IIB with a Garmin 480 and GI-106 wired to the radio coupler. The HDG select function works, but my NAV, OMNI, and LOC won’t track a course in either GPS or VLOC. It seems like it tracks for a moment but then it starts drifting to the left. Had a shop trouble shoot it, said that it might be the radio coupler so I sent it out to Autopilots Central and had it repaired. Put it back in and it still has the same issue. I dismissed the main autopilot controller since the roll and HDG function still works as advertised. Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts? Do I need to do the whole calibration process and push that red button on the back of the coupler? Chris

Thanks everyone! Found the fuse casing and replaced the fuse. Light works again! Now onto my Radio Coupler for my autopilot lol.

Lately I have been fixing small items on my plane. Trying to get my dome light to work again. It's an early 78 J, SN: 24-0470. Has the Grimes Light with the 3 position switch that has the resistor attached. Looking at the wiring diagram, it splits off at a junction behind the clock panel and then it goes to the battery and it's protected by a 5A fuse. Does anyone know if that light is hooked up anywhere specific behind the clock panel and where exactly is that 5A fuse coming off the battery?

This photo is from a 77 J, that has the console style headliner unlike the later J’s has the tunnel style, my 78 has this earlier style because of the ventilation system. Unfortunately Plane Plastics doesn’t carry that version.

I’ve used Plane Plastics for years when I ran a flying club and we replaced the interior in our Cessna and Piper Aircraft. I really haven’t been in a real hurry to replace this stuff in my Mooney just because I know how much of a pain it is. Unfortunately Plane Plastics doesn’t carry the aft headliner. Might have to purchase the aft console they sell for an F and either replace the fabric headliner the previous owner(s) installed or take vinyl paint to recolor it and restretch it a bit. Can’t really swap the headliner over to a more modern J just because I have the roof vent installed.

So I have seen photos of a couple 77 J's that have same headliner as mine (except mine is missing the rear portion), does anyone have the part number or the aft headliner out of a 77 J available? Chris

Yup, I have the most recent revision of the parts catalog that covers my serial number. Chris

So I have a 1978 J that I would like to start replacing the interior plastic. I managed to figure out a majority of the parts I need, unfortunately I cannot figure out the aft headliner. My current headliner does not match IAW with the parts catalog for my plane and I really don't want to rebuild the overhead duct assembly. If anyone has any insight on the parts I need for the rear headliner to cover the vents for the rear seats I would greatly appreciate it.
