  1. Yeah well maybe Cessna is dropping production of them for a reason.... Never understood why they thought they'd be able to sell $100k+ planes that are basically new but dumbed down 152s when you can buy a good used one of those for $20k? And make money on them!
  2. They're bummed that they bought (and own) the earlier version of the GDL-39 which did not include the built-in AHRS which allows display of attitude info in Garmin Pilot. I personally have a Stratus 2 (which works with ForeFlight) which includes AHRS but Foreflight hasn't integrated the display of an attitude indicator a well as Garmin has, you need to switch to a second app on the iPad to display it (or you can display it on an app running on your iPhone). Works but not as elegant as Garmin solution. But all of this is pretty fluid and I'm guessing Foreflight will offer similar on an upgrade and hopefully synthetic vision too.
  3. I have a 155XL and it does work well. It DOES require an annunciator to be approved (and functional) for approaches, it is not just a pilot's line of sight issue. With non WASS 430s going for $4-5k and WASS units at $7k I understand the attractiveness of a $1k purchase, but don't forget you'll be investing in installation which is mostly unit (model) specific.
