  1. Well, I have decided to sell my pride and joy, 1963 M20C and upgrade to a newer K model. What should I look for? What should I be afraid of? Any advice will be greatly appreciated ☺️ Thank you for your time, Jon
  2. Thank you for your help, I will take a look at everything today!
  3. I need help swinging my magnetic compass. I have a 1963 M20C and cannot get my vertical card compass within an expectable range. Last year when my plane was down for annual, I demagnetized all for the exposed tubing. Still no luck. Will a wet compass work any better? Any help will be greatly appreciated Thank you, Jon
  4. OK Guys, First, "Thank you for everyone's concern". Yes, I do understand the effects of an aft C.G. (That's what generated the question). Not that it matters, but my background is ATP fixed wing, ATP helicopter, CFII and A&P. 12K plus hours. 200 in Mooney's (50 in mine) I do feel I have found most of the problem. During the last annual, two of the trim torque tubes were changed. After a little research, I have discovered that the tubes were not installed correctly. Not allowing proper movement of the trim. If anyone can see something I'm over looking, please let me know. It doesn't matter how much experience we have, we can always learn more Please tell me if my numbers look wrong. 5. This is a sample weight and balance using the eflight program. All weights were taken from the last weight and balance in the aircraft log book. The aircraft is in the paint shop and will be weighed when it come out. Thank you to everyone for your input. Jon N6758U Weight & Balance Sheet.pdf
  6. I have a 1963 M20C and I use the eFlight program for my weight and balance. On my last flight, I was loaded with 4 people, 60 pounds of baggage and full fuel (48gal). I was below my gross takeoff weight, useful load and within the C.G. envelope. I did have an aft C.G. In cruse flight the plane was trimmed with full nose down and still wanted to climb (50ft per min). Is this normal or does my trim need to be readjusted?
  7. Thank you!!! I will give them a call after the holidays
  8. Thank you for the help guy's, but I'm still in need of a spinner. I need a spinner made for a McCauley two blade prop. I need one in good condition without cracks. My parts manual shows part # 835-20 Thank you
  9. Does it make a difference if I have a McCauley Propeller? I don't realy want to spend 2K for a new spinner. My main gole is to find a spinner without any cracks. It would be great if I could find one to fit that had a little more of a point. None the less, I'm looking to replace the one I have.
  10. I'm in the process of updating my 1963 M20C and just found a crack in the spinner. I stop drill it, so it's ok for now. I would like to replace it with a spinner that is not so blunt. One with a little more of a point. Can anyone tell me if there is one available? Do I need a 337?
  11. I would like to stay with products that are recommended by the manufacture. Sometimes cheaper isn't the way to go. The tech that I spoke with from Flamemaster was very clear that PPG stripper was the easiest was to remove their sealer. I'm will to listen to anyone that has first hand experience from using both products.
  12. I'm going to use the PPG Eldorado SR-125 Sealant remover. I called FlameMaster, the maker of the tank sealant and this is what product they recommended. The technical data is on the PPG website. It is only sold in a 4 gallon case. The cost per case is $400 plus shipping. The cleaner (ED-500) is $110 plus shipping. The Tech with PPG told me the sealant can be removed with a plastic scraper once it's treated with SR-125. The cleaner is used to remove the residue from the stripper.
  13. Hello, I own a 1963 M20C and the tanks are just starting to leak. I'm an A&P and have done a little research on how to strip the fuel tanks using a chemical stripper. The problem I'm having is the selling price of the stripper. It is only sold by the case. I'm looking for anyone that would like to buy 1/4 of the stripper. The selling price will be $150 plus shipping. If you are interested please send me an email or give me a call. Thank you, Jon Martin 337-739-3385 marfly3@bellsouth.net
  14. Orionflt, Please send me an email at marfly3@bellsouth.net I have a few questions if you don't mind.
  15. I will be based out of Crowley, Louisiana
  16. So far everyone is telling me what I wanted to hear. Corrosion, fuel leaks and tubular structure. I have a shop setup at Ft. Myer's to do a compression check, oil change and mag check. I also have a full list of service bulletins and AD's to check for.
  17. Hello All, I'm buying a 1963 M20C after the first of the year. As an A&P I will be doing the pre buy myself. Other than the obvious things to look for, what should I be concerned about when looking at the M20C? Thank you, Jon
