This "Y" connector will allow installation of the Davtrom M655 temprature/pressure altitude/density altitude/voltmeter to be installed or removed without disturbing the transponder wiring harness. It is plugged in line between the transponder and altitude encoder and even draws it's power from the connector through an in-line 1 amp fuse. The unit powers up when the transponder is turned on and displays accurate data only when the encoder has warmed up.
