Recently purchased a 1992 M20J MSE. Empty weight 1940#. In front of my hangar is asphalt pavement that rises about 4 inches in 60 feet. Then plane has to go up a 1 inch high concrete lip to enter the hangar. When the fuel is 20 gallons total or less, I can just barely push the plane with the towbar into the hangar. With 50 gallons, I cannot get the plane in the hangar. Would anyone recommend the Sidewinder or the Mooney Mover?
I have a Cub Cadet riding lawnmower with a ball hitch on the front. A custom made towbar connected the Cub Cadet to a Cherokee. I used the Cub Cadet with the towbar to push a Cherokee into the hangar. Worked well, however the Cherokee has more generous towbar limits than the Mooney. From what I have read, it would be a bad idea to push a Mooney with a Cub Cadet.
