  1. Hi, As of now I wouldn't have the funds to join a partnership. Sorry and good luck in your search! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  2. Sweet hopefully I can make it out to this.
  3. Hello All, I am thinking of buying a M20C/E/F but I would like to see/sit in one just to see if it would be a good fit for me. Would anyone in the area be available to have me look at your airplane? I am located at KSAC but would be willing to fly somewhere that's reasonably close to come take a look. Thanks!
  4. I live in Davis, CA and would like to either join or start a partnership with 1 or 2 other pilots. I would be interested in a Mooney M20C/E/F/J. I will plan on flying 60-80 hours. I am VFR rated only but will be getting IFR this year. Message me on here if you would be interested. Thanks!
  5. Thanks ill give it a shot.
  6. What's the best way to find partners? It wouldn't be ideal but I think with 1 or 2 partners I could afford to do so without breaking the bank.
  7. Could I get some numbers on the cost so I can create a spreadsheet? So far I have the following: GPH 9 Hourly Maintenance reserve $30/hr Engine reserve ~$10/hr (depending how many hours are on it of course, but how much do they usually cost 20k?) Prop reserve ~$2/hr(how much are they usually?) Insurance might vary but I assume mine would be 1500/year is that reasonable for a 130TT private?
  8. Also I would like to add who or what shop would be good to contact about doing a pre-buy inspection?
  9. Would a M20F be more suitable if I had 1 person in the back? I see that they would probably be out of my price range.
  10. So I know we all like to spend other people's money so here I let me know what I should buy. I am based in the sacramento area and I currently am partnered up in a club that has a cherokee 180. I have no IR but was planning on getting that this winter. And currently have ~130TT. My current missions are $100 hamburgers and a 450nm trip I like to make at least once or twice every couple of months. Mostly would carry one other + medium size dog. If I need to carry more I'd just rent. I would want a budget of 35k or maybe 40k if I had a partner, which I think would be ideal. I was thinking a M20C would fit my mission? I would just want a basic IFR airplane. I wouldn't plan on doing any hard IFR flying just breaking through fog layers and such. Also if someone had some insight into the maintenance cost that would also be great. Thanks!
  11. what's the link for it.
  12. What's it useful load? also how much has your maintenance been? would you say $130/hr wet would cover most things?
  13. ok thanks! sounds like it would be perfect for long cross countries.
  14. yes exactly the 231. Anyone have some operating cost numbers for it?
  15. I noticed that the k and j are similarly priced is there a huge difference in operating cost between them? if you guys don't mind sharing I'd like to know some of those costs, e.g. per/hr given 125hrs per year.
  16. Wow quite a bit of m20Es. I was hoping to see some M20Js. I've been looking at what could so 160KTAS. With at least AP and 430W. In the 70k range. any thoughts?
  17. I was just curious what airplanes people flew, what their operating cost are and their TAS.
  18. I might go for a C150 or a piper Cherokee I am trying to crunch the numbers. I'd do it in a partnership but I still want some good numbers.
  19. So you guys think it might be better just to rent? I am just trying to figure out what's more economical I am not set on either (renting vs owning). I was 10hrs of flying per month and ideally something I could use to get IFR. Maybe I should try looking at other airplanes?
  20. That doesn't include financing right? I do have 1/4 of the cost saved up but that will probably be for the down payment. Do you have a spreadsheet of the cost breakdown? To be honest that's exactly the amount of hours I was planning on flying. Also, at my local airport tie-down is only $50 I figure it's not so bad since California usually has nice weather. Thanks for all the input everyone! I will look into getting a good pre-buy! I am still contemplating if co-ownership is worth it.
  21. Sounds like my kind of airplane! lol. I am not much of a person for looks anyways.
  22. Cool thanks! Well I am no mechanic but I am an engineer so maybe I can help out with some of the work under the supervision of a mechanic so that I can learn basic preventative maintenance. Would you guys think that 600 or so budget a month enough for ownership of a m20C? possibly by doing a partnership?
  23. Sounds about what I could go for. Thanks!
  24. 29k I can go for that. I want a Mooney as low as possible but that's in working order and no major squawks. It's a tall order but I just mostly want an airplane that's IFR and decently fast. I would go for a C172 but I think Mooney's a little for fitting for me, i.e. in terms of speed & efficiency. If someone on here owns a M20C i'd love to hear your annual cost for operating one!
  25. So something like this probably has some serious problems not worthwhile?
