Well, after an awesome around-the-world flight, we must regrettably put our Mooney up for sale. My partner and I purchased this beautiful 1978 201 specifically for this flight after looking at a lot of aircraft. We wanted a nearly perfect airplane to entrust our lives across Europe, Africa, South America, North America and a couple of oceanic crossings (including a 2700nm non-stop leg completely over water).
We used MooneySpace for a lot of the research we did before taking the plunge, so before we list it with a broker, we wanted to offer it for sale here first.
This Mooney had two owners since new before us (with the previous owner owning it since 1980) and it spent it's entire life hangared in the Southwest. The previous owner clearly put a lot of love and updates into this airplane.
Anyhow, here's all of the specs off the top of my head:
-1810TTAF
-IO-360-A3B6D w/ 160SMOH by LyCon
-Hartzell Blended Airfoil Top Prop w/ 160SNEW
-Garmin 530, SL30, and GTX-330 Mode S Transponder (wired to the G530 to display traffic)
-4 place Garmin audio panel
-Shadin Fuel Flow linked to G530 for trip planning
-Century IIB single-axis autopilot wired to G530
-Electric trim
-Inisght 4 cylinder EGT/CHT Engine Monitor
-SVS Standby Vacuum system
-Precise Flight Speed Brakes
-Wingtip extensions with position, strobe, nav lights, and nav antennas
-Aileron gap seal fairings, wheel well liner fairings, tail root fairings, wing root fairings, rudder and elevator fairings
-One-piece belly
-Trophy 122 conversion kit with low-profile inner gear doors and reversed brakes
-Lopresti Boom Beam Pulse Light
-New Glass
-Grey Leather interior in excellent condition
-Original Paint 8.5/10
With the speed mods and the new engine/propeller, this Mooney actually does book numbers or better. I was getting 170ktas at 11.5gph (ROP) at 4,000, 150ktas at 7.2gph (LOP) at 11,000, and 142ktas at an unbelievable 6gph (LOP) at 15,000 feet.
All logs since new. Damage history does involve a gear-up landing which was professionally repaired with new one-piece belly, pitot tube, engine overhaul, and new prop.
The airplane is currently located in the Southwest US (AZ, NV, CA) and is being flown regularly, so times are subject to change.
We are asking $89,000 on here before listing it at a higher price with a broker next week.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Kind Regards,
Paul Eriksmoen
