  1. Thanks for replying. MT prop would be an option, but as David said, the Rocket STC is about the present propeller only, and I want to stay on the N reg, so forget the EASA opinion... She was weighted at last annual and the CG is forward the original envelope, but easy to fly and land anyway, but trimmed very aft. The 40lbs sandbag option in the bagage area seems less as required, so I'am expecting to add a few weight in the tail, so I am wondering if overweight the present 19lbs fixed ballast (charlie weight as you said) is legal? Otherwise, I am looking for any information about N1149G, which as fly across the atlantic from USA to England on DEC 2010, where I bought it. She was in California, Utah, Virginia before coming here. Any previous owner on this forum?
  2. Hi there, I enjoy flying my Rocket for 2 years now, but I'm concerned about the CG location too much forward (TSIO-520-NB heavyer than original TSIO-360). From the M20K (231) POH, fixed ballast may be added to move the CG aft. 6,13 & 19 lbs are available, my bird already wears 19 lbs. Is it legal to add up more weight? Rocket flyers what is your opinion? Not a lot Rockets flying around in Europe, the french Mooney center didn't see anyone before mine, so... feeling alone :=)
  3. Hi there, let's introduce myself as a new member. I'm a proud new Rocket co-owner in France. The delivery was on july 10th and more than 100h fly time (50h each...) since this moment. I was a zero time Mooney pilot, not very experienced with only 200h total time and 40 hours on complex. I heard a lot of bad comments on Mooneys landing so I was a little afraid of my "crazy" choice (not only a Mooney, but a Rocket!!!). So I asked for an instructor familiar with Mooney to teach me the basic skills for this airplane. Unfortunately, he was leaving for long vacation, so I've learned with my co-owner which had some hours on a M20F. We have read all available publications about Mooney Turbos and especially Rockets, and learn a lot before delivery, and let's fly... Now, my opinion about Mooneys is as follow : They are fantastic birds, complex but easy to fly and easy to land. Since the first landing, I never had any problem. I just check the speed on approach, trim it up when the speed decrease and it works at anytime. I can confirm the nose is heavy, but even with 2 heavy guys on the front seats, the trim is not full up. Sorry Rocketman, I can't send you the solution, only say that my Rochet lands with no horizontal deviation. May be some issue around the front gear? Happy to join the Mooniacs community. Romain
