  1. Since I started this thread, I wanted to share what I found when I when I went to the hangar today. This is for the 1998 M20J Allegro. 1. The strobe light was a A610 2. The Powerpack was in the Avionics panel for the wingtips. (Didnt find one when I removed the 2nd panel from the wingtip) 3. It did have a recog light. Its just inconspicous and tucked in. 4. There seems to be a tail powerpack in the back but didnt open that panel to see. If I have to do the LED conversion, this may be simpler for the wingtips since the wiring seems to originating inside the avionics bay. Attaching pictures for the keen eye to spot anything. Pictures attached.
  2. Thanks everyone. I will be going to the hangar tomorrow to check the strobe part #. Will post back here what I find out. I did see one log entry from 2020 where it said replaced strobe powerpack HDACF S/N 132XX with new HDA-CF-14/28 S/N 0976373xxxx The replaced Powerpack does have 3 outputs. So not sure if there are 3 powerpack units or just a single one.
  3. I have a 1998 M20J Allegro. We just noticed that the left strobe light had gone out. I was checking with Lasar on the part# and they werent sure for the later model M20J if it was a Whelen A610 or A610M. Without removing the screws anyone with a later model MSE or Allegro able to share if they had replaced this strobe light. Not the best pictures but I have attached a closeup of the left and right wingtips.
  4. My bad, I meant to say Aspen. Not sure why I typed Avidyne.
  5. Our Mooney has a EFD1000/PFD. During the bi-annual IFR certification, the EFD1000 was out of tolerance on the altitude. Its was around -40 instead of -20 (acceptable tolerance). The backup altimeter is good. There are no leaks in the pitot static system etc. The avionics guys should have been normally able to adjust the altitude in the EFD1000 with the reference equipment. However they say that any input into the EFD1000 is not accepted by the system. The EFD1000 is refusing the new altitude entry. Is this a software issue or do you folks think that the unit needs to be sent back to Avidyne for service. Its looks like (I am told) that Avidyne charges a flat rate for service. Not sure how much it is. Or is it a preferable option to upgrade (drop-in) the EFD1000 to ......... Looking for recommendations and opinions. Thanks.
  6. According to POH 3203, the max Vfe KIAS with flaps extended is 112 and 109 (KCAS) - White Arc. One observation was that when the flaps were put in above 90 kts, the flaps barely travelled to the TO position but 2-3 secs later the breaker pops. It’s like the motor is trying and in the process drawing more current. At 90kts or below, they work perfectly fine. Will have the Maintenance folks take a look at the actuator assy for grease hardened or other build up
  7. Thanks a lot. I will have the maintenance folks cleanup and grease the actuator assembly. Will see what shakes out.
  8. I am curious to see if anyone had this issue before. The aircraft is a M20J 1998 and if on a pattern and the flaps are engaged for landing at 100kts or above, the 5A breaker pops. The flaps works perfectly at both positions if the speed is 90Kts or below. We have changed the breaker and it was not the issue. Any thoughts or similar experience? Thanks.
