So the situation is this: I landed for fuel earlier today and ran into some trouble starting my M20F. Basically, after I achieved engine start and switched the ignition from the starter position to both magnetos, the engine would die. I tried switching to both left and right magnetos after start, to no avail. I used my electric fuel pump to push out any possibilities of vaporized fuel issues. After calling some experienced Mooney folk, they recommended disconnecting each magneto separately and starting then. Disconnecting the left magneto left me with no shower of sparks so I couldn't get the plane started. I could start it without the right connected, but it went back to quitting. Do you guys think this is an ignition switch issue?
