  1. okay here we go I'm a partner in a 1959 m20a and I have a couple of questions the first one is the wing really could use a recovering and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with cost for recovering a wing and I imagine it's different from playing to plane I am mechanically inclined and have the patience to do it I'm sure it would take me twice as long as having a shop do it. So first the plane doesn't carry a lot of value but there's nothing like flying a good old Mooney wood wing airplane I just love it. Do any of you know of supply houses where I could buy the vinyl? My second question when doing the last oil change there was a little bit of metal shaving the compressions are all in the mid-70s and for all other reasons the engine just seems to be running great. I've built plenty of Automotive engines and I can't count how many vws I've restored. I do is an A&P and his mentor is or has a high enough A&P rating that he can build Motors and he's offered to let me rebuild or replace what needs to and he babysit me in exchange I would give him x amount of hours use of the aircraft. I wouldn't even consider doing something like that if I didn't have the knowledge and ability mechanically to do a solid steady precise job on the engine and of course putting in the very best quality parts. Oh one more question I've been looking at other monies for sale and I've read articles that says that private aircraft values are really high right now and they are suggesting they're not going to come down for a while so how do people come up with the value of their plane other than what the market will bear? I'm hoping there's another method for even getting a rough value without having to Fork out $500 or more to get a full-fledged appraisal done. I don't mind paying that once I've found what I'm looking for. It's easier with cars he's KBB or the NADA guide. Thank you for taking your time to read this and for those of you who will respond I can't thank you enough. It takes a village to raise a child but more importantly it takes two villages to keep one guy's bird in the air LOL
