  1. That would be great! I would appreciate that very much. Thank you!
  2. Hello, I just bought an M20 F. I’m super excited about it. I’m looking for a CFI to teach me how to really fly this airplane. Insurance wants me to get at least 10 hours of instruction with 15 full-stop landings but I would like to get a few more hours of instruction than that. Insurance says any CFI with at least 750 hours TT AND 200 of retractable could give me the checkout but I’d rather have someone with Mooney experience (preferably in the M20F with the J-bar). The plane is located in Lincoln, Ca (KLHM). So if there’s someone in the area or if you know of someone in the area, that would be willing to teach me, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your consideration.
  3. Hey guys, are there any hangups on aftermarket turbos? How do you all feel about them?
  4. How hard is it to source parts for your planes? I heard that the parts pool is rapidly becoming scarce. A shop near me just explained how some mooneys they’ve seen have had to sit for parts a lengthy amount of time.
  5. There are a couple nice F models that I’m looking at that have electric gear. Maybe it’s time to switch up my thinking. With all the electric gear airplanes out there, it can’t be all bad lol.
  6. Yeah, that’s kind of what I’ve been thinking about. But I didn’t know if I was the only one. Thanks for that lol.
  7. Hey guys, I appreciate all the info and general opinion when it comes to the speed mods for an F model. If you all are still following this can you give me your opinion on electric gear versus the J-bar? I know the J-bar is the only system the FAA approved without the need for redundancy, however, I’m wondering if I should be treating this in the same way as the speed mods? Should a J-bar be a deal breaker? Recently I heard that most gear up landings are due to the pilot failing to remember to put down their gear, not necessarily due to the gear motor failing. All in all an electric system isn’t all that bad. What’s your opinion?
  8. Thanks for the heads up! Can you message me his contact info?
  9. N204TA, I assume I’ll create a better working relationship with my mechanic if I find one that is stock.
  10. I know the feeling of the hot summer sun beating into an un air conditioned cabin on a cross country down the California valley. I imagine the curtains are a must. Thanks for the info Shadrach.
  11. Thanks Vance, I appreciate your input. From what I’ve read, you can get 3kts here and there with them, so it would be nice, but it’s not essential. Mainly, I just want the bigger side windows for my kids to be able to look out. Not that the bar is too obstructive, but if I had my choice.
  12. Hello everyone, I’ve seen people post discussions like this in the classified section before but figured I’d get more eyes on posting it here. If this is the wrong spot I apologize. I’ve donated to the site as well. So I’m looking for my holy grail. A Mooney F model with a Johnson bar and J model speed mods. I’ve got 100k and could go a little north of that for the right plane, but obviously would like to keep it lower if able. I’m also willing to entertain the idea of an E or J model, if the price is right. I need something with at least a garmin 430w to maintain my instrument rating. A couple of G5s would be nice along with a good autopilot and ADSB in/ out. It would also be nice to find something under a 1000 hours SMOH. Please help! I made the mistake of asking for the opinions of my wife and children and they want me to get a 182. Not that there’s anything wrong with the 182, I just love the Mooneys. So, if you have one or know of anyone who’s considering selling, I’d love to hear from them. Thank you for your time and consideration.
  13. I appreciate it guys, thank you for your time and consideration. Though, it looks like someone beat me to the punch. I’ll have to continue hunting.
  14. Hello, I’m looking for recommendations for or someone who can do a pre-buy inspection on a vintage Mooney near Little Rock, AR. It’s an E model. If you know someone or can do it yourself, I’d be very interested in hearing from you. Thanks for your time and consideration.
  15. I appreciate all the help. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of previous discussions on this topic. I’ll “Google” it as well if that’s the route I eventually go down. Thanks again
