  1. Looking for some inspiration for a panel upgrade for my '64 E model. First pic is my current panel, second pic is the look I'm leaning toward but I'm still open to ideas like 275s, upgrading my 430w for something else, etc. The flush mounted G5s looks nice. On my wishlist is a push-button start, but, space is kind of at a premium. Current Panel: Saw this one recently, and really liked it: Add your own pics, and feel free to recommend shops! I'm in Fredericksburg VA at KEZF, I have a great A&P locally, but I really want to knock this one outta the park so I'm open to options. Thanks!
  2. Outstanding info!! I’ve been filming my flying for a while, my channel is YouTube.com/av8nate and I’ve used the GoPro fusion for all of it. GoPro dropped the ball on 360 cams so I moved to insta360 and it’s been great. I capture the audio using a simple Sony recorder. I’ll check out the video you posted, the footage people are getting with those boom arms is completely amazing.
  3. Would you be willing to show me which panel you're talking about? Maybe even a picture of how you've mounted it, temporarily of course. I presume there's a backing piece to avoid any damage to the paint? I would work through this with my local A&P so we will iron out the legalities but I appreciate the feedback, everyone.
  4. Hey, friends! I recently got an Insta360 camera, and I'm considering one of these mounts that allows you to use any inspection plate that has screws between 2"-5" apart. I'm not totally sold on this idea, but if I were to do something like it, do you think that either of these two plates (shown with the yellow arrows) would be good to use for a mount?   5. 100%. I’ve been searching for a more accessible place in the flight deck to put my checklist cards. They are neatly printed and laminated on small cards that I keep on a key ring and clip to my flight bag. Super handy! But once I get flying it’s not as simple as the old 172 door pocket haha. I just ordered a little seat protector that has a mesh pouch on the front that I believe will let me stow the checklist cards in a more accessible spot so I use them all, not just the critical ones.
  6. Yep I mean the “take off” position (2 pumps, lines up with a full aileron deflection when viewed from my seat before take off. Full flaps is a lot! It sure didn’t catch my eye at any point during the flight until I was doing descent checks. Short flight (15 minutes) but still kicked myself really hard when I noticed. I popped the flap release back up and watched them, but they didn’t have far to retract. thanks for the tips! I’ll pull out my logs later today and verify if this SB has been completed. I assume it has, the plane was very well kept before I bought it in January.
  7. Hey, all! I've been working on taking off with my flaps down, since I'm on a shorter runway it's really helpful and I just like the takeoff better with the nose wheel getting off the ground before the speed gets too much above 65kts. On a recent trip, I was configuring for decent (facepalm) when I realized I had not retracted my flaps. It was a short trip, only about 15 minutes, but I was at 160kts for sure in cruise. I hit the retract lever, and looked over at the wing. The flaps didn't look down, it almost seemed like as I was in cruise (definitely over 85kts) that the speed kind of retracted them for me. Not good. I wanted to ask if anyone else had made this mistake before and if it caused any damage or issues? I felt like such a dummy. The flaps worked fine for my landing, and a visual inspection of them after the flight revealed no obvious issues. I don't put them all the way down hardly at all, just 2 pumps is enough for my takeoff and landing config. '64 E model. Thanks!
  8. Thanks, everyone! I was figuring it would cost about $1500 or more, and yeah they do seem to be short-lived on the market. I'm still looking, but I do want to get something better than my manual tow bar. No hangar rash, please!
  9. Hello, everyone! Forgive me if this is not the proper channel. I'm looking for a Sidewinder tug for my Mooney and Facebook seems hell-bent on letting scammers run the show. I have had several fake profiles try to sell me units, but not one has been trustworthy enough to move forward with a deal. A few even blocked me when I asked for more photos, and one just changed their name entirely.. as if I wouldn't notice. Strange. Anyway, I'm looking for a Redline Aviation (the newer kind) version of the Sidewinder Tug for my M20E. If anyone is selling one, or knows a reputable source, point me in their direction! My hangar is up a little hill, and over a small lip, and I find that pushing the plane back with my simple tug bar is not as well-controlled as I'd like it to be.

New owner here, setting up my hangar for the first time and was curious about getting a Mooney flag, and of course some summer & winter gear to wear to rep the awesome logo and name. General searching kind of makes it seem like on-demand printing is running the market for these. Are there any better, more authentic sources I could get flags, shirts, or hoodies from? Figured I'd check here before ordering anything. Thanks!

  13. Hey Mooneyspace! I'll be picking up my new (to me) 1964 M20E next month and flying it back to my new hangar. As a first time Mooney (and airplane) owner, I'm looking for ideas on what kinds of stuff I'll need in my hangar. Please share some ideas with me here so that I can put together a good list. I've never had a hangar before. It has a powered door, and electricity. Thanks!

  15. Hey Mooneyspace Crew! Still new around here but I've met some pretty amazing characters on this site, so I'm hoping my luck holds out on this search! I'm planning to become the new owner of a very special and well-cared-for 1964 M20E. In the next 8-12 months I want to move from Illinois (Quad Cities IL/IA) back to Northern VA (Stafford VA to be precise) to be closer to my parents. I'm working on finding a hangar and it will be some time still before I have a roof for my airplane, so I wanted to start looking out for a mechanic in the area that I can start to communicate with and maybe even fly the plane out to meet him/her once we connect. I know this is kind of a broad question, but, let me know if you have any advice for me! Most likely I'll be getting a hangar at KEZF (Shannon Airport, Fredericksburg VA) as their wait list is less than a year they say. Thanks in advance!
