  1. Thanks for the responses! And yes, I understand how this process normally works. The owner of the rental was just reluctant to let me transition train using his plane, so I thought I would see about another option. Thanks @carusoam for the information provided. I will approach the owner with an offer to cover the extra cost to insurance and maybe that is all that is needed.
  2. Hello Mooney lovers! I am hoping one of you can help me out. I live in Cookeville, TN and fly out of KSRB in a Piper Archer II. I don’t yet have a Mooney, but have the opportunity to pay for block time in a nice M20E. However, the owner doesn’t want me to do transition training in the aircraft. Is there anyone in the area that does transition training in a pre-J Mooney that I can rent for that purpose? Thanks
  3. Here’s a question for ya’ll; is there any significant difference a buyer should care about between pre-68 Mooney vs post-68? I had read somewhere that cost cutting occurred around ‘69, and was wondering if negative changes were significant enough to avoid later model’s of C, E, F? Thanks!

(edit) Actually, I think I will make this a new post
  5. I’m in a very similar situation to OP, so just want to say “thanks” to all the input as well. No forum community is perfect, but this one has been very helpful to all us new flyers. Appreciate it! I have pretty much settled on finding the right M20F for my mission. Now comes the time of patience and careful consideration.
  6. Thanks @Tim-37419 I actually have family right by FGU, so I might even fly down one day when we are both free and say hello.
  7. @Pinecone Sadly, probably not much to pull you down. A fair bit of hiking in the area, but otherwise nothing “must see”.
  8. I’m new here, and in the midst of a search for a pre-J Mooney of my own. I am 90% sure this is the plane that will best fit my mission and budget, but… I haven’t been able to fly/sit in one yet. By chance is there an experienced Mooney owner in my area willing to take me for a spin and impart some of your Mooney wisdom to a “new kid”? I am stationed at KSRB in middle TN, have 80hrs flight time in an Archer, and tired of renting the trainer (only option at my location). Thanks for your help!
