  1. Wow, you guys were fast on that. Thanks for the info and re-direct. Makes me feel better knowing it's unlikely to spread or cause issue.
  2. I have two spots under the wing-walk where a little bit of fuel tends to seep when topped off. one is very obviously a bad seal around a panel. The one closer to the fuselage is more concerning. it doesn’t appear to be in-line with any rivet or seam lines. My A&P (who is not a Mooney guy), has warranted concerns about spreading and it’s proximity to the spar. wondering if anybody here has experience with leaking in this area. photos attached.
  3. I went to clean my Mooney’s belly today. it was unpleasant and rather unsuccessful. that is all.
  4. Easy out. Took about 20 minutes in all, and they're already spoken for! Now all I have to do is strip enough parts off my plane to recoup the purchase price...Who wants an INOP Strikefinder?!!?!
  5. Absolutely. I’ll message you once they are out.
  6. Thanks! That’s good to know it’s not just me. I’ll poke my head down there tomorrow.
  7. I’ve seen a few posts here about adding rudder pedal extensions, but not really the other direction. Just picked up a J that has 3inch extensions. At 6’ 2” they leave me a bit cramped, and I find it difficult to stay off the brakes. wondering, for those who have done this mod, is it something that I can simply remove, or modify, or do I need to find an original pedal assembly? I do have all the original install paperwork, but have not dove into it yet.
  8. Best laid plans. I could not have picked a worse weekend to fly from PA to MT. Our direct route was blocked by massive convective storms throughout the Great Lakes and Midwest. Circumvented all the convective activity and made it home to Montana by way of North Carolina, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Idaho. The Mooney flew beautifully, and it sure was nice having autopilot through Nebraska.
  9. Weather is a big concern this week. Definitely playing it safe. I’ve heard horror stories about people’s brand new planes getting hammered by mid-west hail while parked and waiting for weather to pass.
  10. If I was living on the east coast I’d be all over that. In addition to my CFI(I) flying home with me, I have transitional training setup with a CFI who owned a J. thanks for the MAPA PPP suggestion. Looks like there a few more this year I’ll certainly try to make. As of now, the trip is looking like stops in Springfield then Rushmore before crossing the mountains home. I am really appreciating all the input I’ve been getting here.
  11. I zero argument against taking time to learn a new plane, but Hank has hit the nail on the head here. The immediate XC flight is to ferry it home, which will require a few stops. Might as well make them interesting! And yes, my CFII will be sitting right seat for the trip.
  12. Oh man, that's substantially cheeper than the fuel in my neck of the woods. haha!
  13. KRAP is definitely the main choice right now for that last stop before MT. I will look into the museum in Springfield. Thanks
  14. I just purchased my first Mooney (M20J) and will be flying it home at the end of June. Harrisburg, PA to Kalispell, MT (KMDT to KGPI) over the course of three days. Rather than just B-line it home I figured I’d ask suggestions for unique airports, air museums, must see’s, etc along the way.
