  1. Anyone have a source for floor mats for m20K? The carpet is good and I’m trying to keep it that way. TYIA! (Air Tex only has carpet)
  2. Thank you. Will do.
  3. Hello all. I am in search of a strobe rocker switch for my 81 M20 K, either just the face plate or the whole switch, I think the plate alone would be very hard to match so probably would be easier for the whole unit. I’ll help greatly appreciate it!
  4. Anyone have a lead or know where I could pick up the strobe rocker switch for an 81/k. Tyia.
  5. Got it. Thank you all!
  6. All valuable information. Thanks to all the Mooney experts! I’ve not flown to 18K of above. So a cannula or boom is inadequate at higher altitudes, you have to use the mask? Also is the O2D2 system worth it at $1200? Thats a lotta oxygen fills. Thanks everyone!
  7. Will do. I tried the boomula, but sent it back bc I couldn’t get it to swing close enough to my nose. Seems it need another swivel joint to bring it closer. Any other companies make that besides Aerox?
  8. Great article. Take home message to me. Fly higher, use oxygen, take advantage of the turbo!
  9. Thank you!
  10. Rocket is Super impressive
  11. I dont have a rocket…unfortunately. 81, 231.
  12. That’s all great information and honestly new to m. But I want to learn as much as I can. I rarely fly above 12/13K feet but probably should. Sounds like that’s what this machine is built for. I know service ceiling is 24K. No idea what CA is. Have to check the POH. THX AGAIN. you’re definitely a welcome wealth of knowledge.
  13. Makes total sense. Thank you for turbos for dummies, exactly what I need. It’s all very technical especially for us basic minded pilots! But I can understand the way you explained it!
  14. PS. I think I figured out “critical altitude,” and looked up bootstrapping but I’m not sure I understand it. Ty.
  15. Thank you for all the really informative comments. I’m trying to learn about what I have so I can learn how to care for my engine as best I can. It’s all new to me so I’m asking a lot of dumb questions. Reading about the different setups and how pilots manage their temperatures is a big challenge but I owe it to my mooney and my wallet (and safety) to figure it all out! I’m not sure what bootstrapping is and what the CA refers to(cruise altitude ?), thank you for all your expertise. Truly appreciated.
  16. Great tip. Thx Dan. I usually have no issue in cruise. But that’s a great tip!
  17. Thank you ZW. Such great information. I will completely follow your guidance. I think I can definitely use some help. Thanks again.
  18. That’s exactly what the POH says. 37. I may have typed incorrectly previously. Thank you!
  19. Yeah. I have both the Merlyn black magic fixed wastegate and the intercooler
  20. Thank you. All super helpful information. I have that exact setup. 231/merlin fixed wastegate(black magic? I think). And I use about 36/2700 on takeoff. The difficult part is there are a lot of opinions that are conflicting. Example, I had my fuel flow set and the AP told me the book says full power and wanted me to firewall the throttle which I had never done, nor work I.from what I understand full power and firewall are different (at least in that plane). Subsequently I found another mechanic. But for a naive pilot who’s fairly new to Mooney’s, I could have easily followed his misinformation and damaged my engine. I sincerely appreciate all your guidance!
  21. That’s great information. Thank you so much
  22. Thanks for the info. When you say “full power,” do you mean firewall the throttle, or full power as recommended by the POH. My POH says never go above 38 inches. Firewall would probably be 40, which I never do. TYIA. Btw I have the 81, m20 k with a merkin black magic waste gate.
  23. Thank you for the input. Exactly how I’ve been flying. Although I’m always a bit shy to fly LOP. I feel like gas is cheaper than cylinders but that’s probably just my insecurity! Thx again!
  24. Can anyone tell me the accepted temperatures for cruise in the M20 K Continental TSIO 360 engine, I heard anything on CHT from 380 to 440. That seems like a huge range to me. Would love to know a standardized acceptable range for cruise in the CHT/EGT/TIT if possible. Thank you in advance for all of your expertise.
  25. Great advice. Will definitely go down the patch road first. Thank you.
