  1. Thanks everyone. @KSMooniac. What about chipping on the MT from rocks/debris etc...?
  2. Thanks KSMooniac. I will look into the MT option. And appreciate the feedback.
  3. I was told it would produce more thrust on take off and climb? And isn't a 3 blade on average 2 inches shorter then a 2 blade? The weight is definitely a factor. I will look into the Hartzell composite as well. Thanks for your feedback.
  4. After a recent prop strike on my J, I am wanting to switch to a three blade. I have heard that Hartzell 3 blade props are hard to balance and produce an oscillation at certain rpm's. And that McCauley's don't have this problem. Has any one had this experience? And can you share your thoughts on the matter before I make my purchase. Thanks.
  5. CFII Daniel Riedling is in Cameron Park and has had a ton of time in my J doing my instrument cert prep. He also recently did a Mooney buyers checkout as well. Very skilled and knowledgable pilot and instructor. danielriedling@gmail.com
  6. Thanks Don. I will. Any thoughts on where to look for them? I assume I can find that info in the M20J maintenance manual.
  7. I will seek out the ground straps and check them. Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the input here. Brand new battery. A Concord. I trickle charge after every flight. The alt. is putting out 13.5 with all switches on at idle. I believe it could be a corrosion issue since it started after she was subject to some big rain storms. I don't have LED's yet but they are arriving soon. I have to find the grounds and start checking those.
  9. Before we could get our 78 J home to the hanger, She was outside for two weeks in the rain. She was covered but it really came down hard. Since then the fuel tank, fuel pressure, and oil pressure gauges dip when turning on the lights. (Especially the navs). I have cleaned all the light terminals. She has been hangered now for two months so I know everything should be dry. Tomorrow I will be testing the alternator draw with everything switched on just to see how strong it is. Has anyone experienced this symptom after exposure to moisture? Thanks for any thoughts here.
  10. Thanks for the offer Rich! I will keep digging and may come back to you if I strike out. Cheers.
  11. Thanks Rich. I will investigate those leads. I appreciate the info here. Thanks.
  12. You are correct. I received the oval lense as the suggested replacement from Wat and found today that I do indeed need a round lense. They don't seem to be as available. Do you know a vender for the round lense? I saw in one post that a Piper tail light lense may work?
  13. Hello Rich. Thanks for the prompt to post some pics for detail. Always my best!
  14. Thanks Clarence. Here are a couple of pics.
