Hi all,
Working on an m20j project. Plane was in a club environment being flown by inexperienced pilots and has had little to no maintenance (pencil whipped annuals, etc). Shock discs had not been replaced in a really long time and were not providing any shock absorption. Removed all gear legs (to clean rust) and both the upper trusses are bowed across the top. Clamped a block on each end (pivot point) and put a straight edge across them to find they’re not even close to being parallel. One leg is worse than the other. The hinge block (pivot point) holes are totally wallowed out. There is some fuel weeping around the gear well/spar which leads me to believe it was taking some hard hits. I know the hinge blocks need to be replaced and I’m 90% sure the upper trusses are damaged but want to be certain they aren’t supposed to be bowed before I ask the owner to spend a lot of money… Would appreciate any input.
Thanks,
-Mackenzie
