  1. It is baffling. On jacks it works perfectly. Yes, I am prepared to manually put the gear down as when this began, I had not yet unlocked the secret code (fly slow for two minutes) and manually put gear down a few times. The airplane went to the mechanic and got a clean bill of health, gear worked fine on the ground. Next flight something, been dealing with this for 4 years now… Thanks for the thoughts Jim
  2. Rich, Thanks for the feedback, not sure what a squat switch would have to do with it as my understanding is those are for gear going up. The switch was continuity checked as it just opens and closes the circuit. I do have an air switch but think this only deals with wheels going up not down. Might agree with problem with motor or contact but it works every time if I slow the airplane for 2 or 3 minutes J
  3. My M20C does not like to put the gear down until I have been below 100 knots for a few minutes. Is this common? I thought it might be gear switch but switch tested good? Thoughts? J
  4. I had the avionics shop upgrade the software on my IFD 550 to version 10.2.6.1. Once the upgrade was completed I was receiving a "GAD42 needs service". After some back and forth with the shop and Avidyne it was discovered that on the Main ARINC 429 Config Page "GAD42" needs to be changed to "EFIS/AirData". Problem resolved. Just thought I would share. Jim
  5. My G5 is the reference for the autopilot, but I have also been told that it is NOT the primary altimeter in the eyes of the FAA. I am not sure which avionics shop made the comment but I was told that if the G5 was able to be the primary the steam altimeter would no longer be required like the G5 taking the place of the turn bank indicator.
  6. I had another shop take a look and redo the pitot static and no they are within 10 feet of each other. Thanks for all the replies. Jim
  7. Hey folks, I currently had a GFC500 installed in my 20C airplane. During the installation I asked them to do a pitot static check thinking that that would true up both the G5 and steam altimeter which did not have that result. They are still both off by 200 feet. This just does not seem correct to me. The G5 is showing the correct altitude on the ground and steam gauge is not. Thoughts?
