  1. Guys. Thank you for all the feedback. I have added the shops mentioned above to my list for future reference. Also I found a shop in Arizona called Marks Avionics that also works on old Narco radios. I spoke with the owner and he told me that he has a very extensive inventory of parts for the Mark 12. Long story short my local avionics guy did some research and found out that some weldings in a particular board are known to cause the problem I was having. While he has no parts for my radio he asked me to allow him to take a look at it before sending it somewhere else. He did a detailed inspection and found a couple of weak welding connections in one of the boards. He cleaned them up and re soldered the affected ones. The radio is working great now so hopefully I won’t have any more issues for a while.
  2. Hello everyone. I have a Narco MK12D radio that is having issues. My radio reception is very poor and with low volume. I can hardly understand the ATIS even when 500 ft from the tower. The antenna was checked and found to be ok. I’m looking for recommendations on a good shop that could inspect the radio and repair as necessary. I realize that the Narco is a mediocre radio but I would like to keep it going until next summer when I plan to do a full panel upgrade. I’m in South Florida but don’t mind shipping it somewhere else if that improves the odds of getting it repaired correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks! I will have to follow this lead also. I inspected all the servos and they are in perfect condition. Subsequently I did two flights with similar results. On both after climb out and level off I engaged the PC. It works for about 15 minutes with no problems but eventually it starts a turn to the left that can’t be corrected with the trim knob on the turn and bank indicator. Turning system off for a few minutes and turning back on resulted in the same left turn. I turned the system off for the duration of the flight. On my return flight I repeated what I had done before with pretty much identical results. System was engaged after level off but after approximately 15 minutes the aircraft started an un commanded turn to the left. Turning PC off and back on later during the flight produced the same results.
  4. Thanks! I will have to check that out. I inspected all the servos and they are in perfect condition.
  5. Hi guys! Today while flying straight and level with the PC engaged my plane started turning left by itself. Almost at the same time I got a High Vac Light warning. Actual suction was in the green pretty much in the middle and no other instruments failed. I disengaged the PC and tried to re engage with the same results. Has anyone experienced this issue or has an idea of what the problem could be? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. My plane is a 69 M20F.
  6. I did too. My rotating beacon will be delivered tomorrow. Now that the sale has been extended I will probably order the landing light. +1 on the Gallagher recommendation. I called them with a couple of questions and got immediate feedback from a real person. No leave a message and we will call you back.
  7. Guys, The rotating beacon on my new to me 1969 M20F is not working right and I decided to upgrade to a Wheelen LED beacon. If I did my research properly I believe the correct part is the OR36S1W for red and white or the OR36R1W for just read. Can anyone verify if that is the correct part? Also do I need anything else to replace my factory one or is everything required for installation included with the new one? My second question is regarding which LED landing light would be the proper replacement. They have some labeled as landing light, others as taxi and at least one labeled landing/taxi but seems to be of lesser intensity. I would like some feedback on what you think works best. Thanks in advance!
  8. Thanks to all for the feedback. I have a re weight scheduled and just Gordon a call telling me that all the paperwork was found at owners home. I will inspect it to make sure it is all in order before I cancel the re weight. The owner is a little bit north when it comes to age and a little forgetful. Hopefully it’s all there.
  9. Thanks! For now we are having the aircraft weighted hopefully Monday. I will give Mooney a call and see what they have available for a 69 M20F.
  10. I hope so. My Mooney is a 1969 M20F. The manual for that year is a far cry from modern manuals.
  11. I am interested in buying a particular aircraft. Had a mechanic look at the plane and logs. All that was good but the owner can’t find the aircraft weight and balance documents. What options do I have to make the aircraft legal to fly? Will having the aircraft weighted again suffice or do I need to do anything else? My ideal goal is to get as close to original paperwork as possible. Thanks in advance.
