I'm in process of purchasing my first Mooney, a 1977 M20J. It's a year out of annual so I need a good mechanic to inspect and annual it. The owner has been doing regular runups but not flying it for the past year, so the oil is probably in bad shape. since it hasn't had a chance to properly heat up (Lycoming says to never do this type of 'warm up' - they say once a month the engine must run for 1 hour, and taxi does not count). I'm flyling my skyhawk over today to go do a pre inspection and send some oil to avlab.
The plane is based out of boston, and my home airfield is Linden, NJ (I live in Manhattan). Recommendations for mechanic, and general tips on how to buy a used Mooney would be highly appreciated.
