Finally arrived today in the App Store Foreflight 5.2 with Canadian vnc charts. I just have to say I've been testing these new charts for a month now and all I can say is WoW. This is the best thing for Canadian pilots in a loong time.

I had foreflight since April but only the american subscription. I do not fly further north than the american VFR maps coverage. My problem is pricing. I feel that the price they charge is way over what it should be. COPA seems to be sitting on their hands on this one (like most issues relating to costs of flying in Canada).

Why would it be $150 when the equivalent USA data is $75? I hate being taken advantage of. If they would drop pricing to $75, I would buy it right away.

Send them a message and ask. I'm sure their intention is not to take advantage of anyone. That program saves me a tremendous amount of money in not having to keep paper charts and approach plates updated. I for one will be a long term user/customer

Probably due to the much lower volume of CDN sales in relation to the work required to present it and there's always the taxes up there, but do call them. You're not being 'gouged' :)

I am only a Canadian beta tester for foreflight and have no financial stakehold, so take my opinion at will, but I have used airnav pro and foreflight now for a year and must say that foreflight has put a trememdous amount of effort into the requests from Canadians to get the content available and accurate.  The new charting format for the Canadian charts is new and is even better than the current US chart formats for now.  I have been extremely impressed so far.

The problem is not with ForeFlight... it is Nav Canada. We pay a yearly fee, there is tax on the fuel...The paper documents have always been expensive and COPA does not seem to care. If nobody says anything, they will raise again next year. Aeronautical information should be kept as low as possible in order to have the most people use them. It is not my situation but I know of some guys for whom they have to choose between buying fuel or extra maps. This is more the exception than the norm however I have trouble with the fact that for the same product it would be twice as much in Canada compared to US.

I have no doubt that the product quality is exceptionnal and that the price issue is not caused by ForeFlight.

I don't understand how someone can live without it unless flying around home all the time. It cost a lot less and it is so easy for planification before take off. I am saving a lot compare to paper days. Some of my friends are using fltplan but it find it not as easy to work with. I use fltplan only for weather and ifr filing.

The volume must be a big part of the reason for the price difference.
