tls pilot Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 Recently added GeeBee Cabin door grey silicone seal. The product is outstanding. Hardest part was removing old glue etc Question is with the adjustment of the top pin/bulb ( which is on the airframe, not the swinging door) In the hangar the door closed and latched appears to have a slight gap on the top of the cabin door and towards the rounded area going to the aft position. The top claw grabs a pin/bulb. the pin can be changed with quarter turns in or out. IF pin is too far in, the top claw on the door will not grab the bulb on the pin. Does anyone have any hints of adjusting this top pin/bulb to correct a gap in the cabin door? I know how to adjust the pin/bulb just hoping for some hints of how far to go etc. I guess it is just a bunch of trials and retrials, but tedious….
Fritz1 Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 gap may be uneven, these airplanes were hand built, I would pour water into the gap on top of the door to make sure it is not leaking, then fly airplane, put on autopilot and feel for air movement along the seal and listen for noise changes when you press against the door circumference, depending on outcome adjust pin and door seal as needed, I glued additional weather strip to the bottom section of my door seal to quiet things down
