I need a few items on my KAP 150 taken care of. There's nothing major at issue, but 1) the wheat lights are so dim that they are hardly noticeable, 2) although I replaced the Sonalert, the A/P beeps only 20% of the time, and 3) most of the time it take three of four tries to get the A/P to engage.

Of the following list of shops, which are the most recommended?

Autopilots Central

Mid-Continent

I don't think there is a bad choice there... You might start with a phone call to Webair and then go from there. I know Bevan and MCICO both have extensive bench repair capability.

Bevan?

Let me think . . .  yes Bevan . . . lol. They have the tribal knowledge of dealing with these back when the KFC 150 was THE autopilot and still have techs that know these autopilots intimately. Jake knows most answers to troubleshooting off the top of his head.

I shot him a message, thanks.

There is also a guy at the Sarasota location of Sarasota avionics that used to work at King repairing them.  Name escapes me, maybe Larry.

He changed some bulbs and the photocell in the KAS-297 while I was there.

I don't remember the gentleman's name, but the current guru at Mid-Continent has been working with the King gear for quite awhile.

I also hear rumors he may be retiring soon, but fully admit that I heard from a guy that heard from a guy, no direct knowledge.
