CCAS Posted June 25 Report Posted June 25 I bumped into a Garmin rep today at the airport and he mentioned the company is about to put up for sale their 2001 Mooney Ovation, registration number N430G. He didn't have any details about engine or airframe time but said the airplane had been used as a Mooney test bed for several years. Not sure what's currently installed in the panel but I can't imagine it's lacking capabilities. He said they weren't going to use a broker and hadn't yet decided how to advertise it. He thought the price being mulled about was $315,000. Might be an interesting airplane to consider for someone in the market for an Ovation. 1 Quote
RoundTwo Posted June 25 Report Posted June 25 After looking at ADSB data, I’m wondering what cloaking device they were using. Serbia? Quote
LANCECASPER Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 This is one of twelve Platinum Edition Ovations from back in 2000/2001. In addition to having a Platinum Continental Engine (pistons & connecting rods balanced within 2 grams, precision balanced crankshaft, fine wire plugs, intake ports volume and flow matched), they also took extra care to fill in and smooth the wing and used a special primer before painting to optimize the airflow. They even used special paint if I remember correctly. It has 6989 hours on it, so whether they replaced it with a Continental Platinum, only the logs would tell. But I'm sure it's had top notch maintenance. Quote
jetdriven Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 The new Mooneys in Oshkosh a couple years ago looked like there was sprayed with Featherfill and blocked off somewhat and then painted, but that stuff shrinks over the rivet dimples and it just looks like it was vinyl wrapped. Featherfill is, basically liquid Bondo from a spray gun, but it still shrinks over the period of about 65 years. Quote
