LASAR must have cranked up their production schedule again as they just shipped me a new pair of wing-tip mods about three weeks ago... Cool  Only had to wait 26 months for those.  They have three pair left after producing a batch of 8.  Expensive, but I like the look of the newer wing tips and plan to put wing tip recognition lights out there too.

You'll love the improved looks of the new windshield and now you'll have a post to hang a garmin x96 GPS off of.  I've got a 496 hanging on mine.

Does it matter?  If somebody actually had to resort to using the whiskey, I guess one could just remove the GPS.

The windshield mod is definitely the next thing on my "upgrade" list, after the Garmin GTN 650 of course...

Do you manage to fly without ever using the DG? And yes, I file /G and often switch between CDI and Map/pink line pages, but the DG is right in front of my face with a nice movable heading bug tied to the 430W through the Brittain Accutrak.

All the more reason to get an Aspen! Laughing  But I just $tripped and re$ealed my tank$, $o fund$ are running a little low right now.

I am also curious about real life, demonstrated speed changes between the original and the 201 window. Can you do a 3-course GPS run before and after, or is the work already started? A demonstrated, data supported number would be nice! [One less thing for us to argue back and forth about here.] Then we only need someone else to do the same for the Hartzell 3-blade prop and I'll know if I'm making or losing a knot or two.

Which color window did you get? I've heard a lot of talk about clear/grey/green, but I'm not sure if that is side windows only or if the windshield is also available with a tint. Now I need to check my own!

The kit should show sometime mid June - I'll probably start the install after Oshkosh so I'll definately have time to bench mark my speeds.   I went with the Gray to match the side windows recently installed.  And really unless you hold a white paper behind the window you really can't tell if they are tinted.

I will tell you what I saw when I changed out the windshield.  Unfortunately I did the oil cooler reloaction, flap gap seals, wheel well liners and the 201 windshield.  Before I did the mods in the 7-9K altitude range I would typically see around 148 KTAS.  That was done taking the indicated a/s and plugging in the OAT and the PA.  After all the mods were done I  see 156 KTAS in the 7-9K altitude range on around 10.8 GPH.  Hope this helps some.  Sometime in the near future I would like to get the tail mods done and when I do I will post those results.

It's hard to tell which one was the most bang for the buck eh? I'm going to try out something a little different. I need to top 14,500' to get over the mountain around here, so I am aiming to put on a Turbo. I do long legs and wouldn't mind cruising at 18,000'. That should speed me up. I'll add the windshield after if I'm still not happy with the improvement. (And if I'm not broke). I'm betting all your mods combined would just about add up to a turbo. The M-20 cost about $32,000 plus installation.

Nice work....you are going to love the new windshield....I absolutely love the looks and the speed increase...also the added space on the glareshield for charts and checklists.  The brake resevoir is located behind the firewall on mine and the A&P put some sort of drain to allow servicing of it.  Next time I have the cowling off I will take some pics of mine...
