Kind of an interesting development. The SkyView HDX can now be coupled with a Trio Pro AP for approach certification. 

No Mooneys on the AML yet, but this is potentially good news for people who wanted a SkyView but have been waiting years for a certified Dynon autopilot to couple.

This is very good news to see two modern avionics companies get certified to work together, especially considering that Dynon has their own competing autopilot.  I presume they're after a bunch of owners with existing Trio autopilots, figuring they would rather sell a PFD suite w/o their autopilot vs. nothing at all.  

I believe many years ago the owners of Trio tried to get a commitment from the Mooney community to do an STC project, but I don't think they ever got enough interest.  I don't know if this development would change that or not... Dynon (and the FAA) did leave a gaping hole in their Mooney product line by excluding the pre-J birds that are very likely most in need of a modern autopilot option.  Maybe Trio will reconsider now?

I would love a SkyView, and was sad to see the Dynon did not, and now will not, pursue the Vintage Mooneys for AP . . . . But the AccuTrak continues on a little longer.

Much as I hate to ask, but what are our options for pre-J models if we want to add an autopilot?

This is a total panel overhaul for a plane I've owned for almost 30 years, or a sell-buy new plane decision for me.
