I flew behind a pair of GNS’ and a GMX-20O for years at what seems decades ago.
The GMX-200 database updates are completely independent of the navigator if that’s what your after. Separate subscriptions, but i rarely updated the GMX-200 databases.
It was primarily to display weather on the map.
This was before ads-b traffic too.

Highly recommend that owners group list.

I loved my GNS480 but I never had the GMX200, so don't know anything about those databases.  Flew a few rentals that had that MFD, but I don't think I've ever seen one with an up-to-date database
