JimK Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 I just flew N436PS, a 2008 3GX Ovation from KMHK to KJWN a few weeks ago at 15K. I was able to get slightly over 60% power (based on the 310hp tables), LOP, 13.5gph, WOT, 2,600RPM and 183kts TAS. 1 Quote

Here is one burning a paultry 12.6 GPH bustin along at 179-180 TAS I flew from College Park to Fort Lauderdale a while back. Horsepower when flying LOP is determined by FF*13.9 in the higher compression non turbo's acc'd to Mike Busch, so if your a nerd for wanting a percent, you can build a chart. ROP, all bets are off, just fly it 100 ROP from first cyl to peak, and you will keep the aluminum stout for more than a few flights. Quote

I've had my Ovation (originally Kerrville's first O2, now STC'd to an O3) ~2.5 years and 350+ hours now, and the only time I fly it over 11k is to top weather/bumps. It has a really great sweet spot flying WOT & LOP from 9-11k. This was WOT at 11k last year turning either 2500 or 2550 RPM (I can't recall). 182KTAS on 11.9GPH at about 50 LOP. 2 Quote

Peak at 59% power is right around 12.2 GPH and 56% is 11.6GPH. You'd get some performance back running it a decent amount leaner and save some gas. If you want to keep running ROP, somewhere in between 12 and 13.5GPH would probably keep the engine a bit cleaner. Quote
