@Matthew P I am joining the list. My gear is Ok but I want this initiative going

I received an email from John (COO) at LASAR last week, they receive the first quote back from the gear manufacturer and awaiting a secondary quote as the first manufacturer's lead time is considered excessive (didn't say how long).  Will keep everyone posted.

Matt, thank you for the work on this subject.  I would like to join the list please.

Certainly, I've sent another message to Lasar to see where they are regarding the issue

Matt What is total on number for gear order?  Any update on second quote/cost per nit based on total order?  Thanks, Scott

So keeping this on first page.  Matt, What is the total number of commitments to purchase the 40:1 gear?  No response yet on second bid?

So, got an email from LASAR, working on another route for the gears, no word back on 2nd bid or basic timeline, there are/were 60 individuals, not including any of the MSCs that are wanting gears..it's been very frustraiting indeed...

I can't imagine how frustrated you must be, this process is starting to make the government appear efficient. To the outside, it would appear that Mooney would make the few phone calls needed to get the ball rolling quickly with the third party vendor. The time investment vs. return seems to be there. Sigh.

If Mooney can get a project like that done, it doesn't speak well to their capabilities should we need something more complex. Can you imagine if Mooney actually had to produce the part?

We are over a year with 60 owners wanting to buy the part and STILL don't have anything?  Mooney, COME ON!  This is unacceptable!  Are you making/coordinating for the manufacture of parts?  It does NOT appear to be the case.  This is NOT a new design.  This should NOT take over a year in this quantity!  Support the fleet or sell to someone that will.

Sounds like it is in the "able hands" of LASAR........just like all our parts now.......

You should be saying: "LASAR, COME ON! This is unacceptable! Are you making/coordinating for the manufacture of parts? It does NOT appear to be the case."

You could be emailing LASAR about it yourself...John@lasar.com

Unacceptable? So what are you going to do about it?

Call Lasar parts every week and request a date of availability and remind them that there are 60 customers waiting for this gear.  Called today and nobody available to take the call so I left a message.

I have given Lasar thousands of dollars in business over the years.  I am a repeat customer.

If 60 people, or 50, or 40, or 30, or 20 or 10 did this...showed a sense of urgency, perhaps the wheels would turn a bit faster?

So, my understanding is that the gear manufacturer is giving the following lead times... 12-18 months, they are trying to find a manufacturer that can do it sooner than that..HOWEVER, I would have already put in the min order (25 sets) to get the ball rolling because we may find ourselves 12-18 months down the road and be 12-18 months behind.

Yes!  Twelve months from NOW sounds better than waiting and it’s xmonths from date of THAT order time :(
