Nice vid, but the site is still really clunky.    It's not easy to use.

And it’s a government website, so it probably cost twice as much to build and three times as long to complete as a private sector offering….

I agree completely. I like some of the new features but I'm disappointed they dropped some of the old ones. The last version of the site kept the legacy charts if you wanted them. I really liked the prog chart thumbnails view where you could see about a dozen prog chart forecasts for the next few days all at once.

You are way too kind....the new site absolutely SUCKS!  They got rid of useful pages and EVERYTHING is difficult to find. Sadly, this is a poster child example of "getting everything we are paying for" from the government:angry:  I'd bet it was way over budget and late.  I just wish it had been even later....like 30 years from now.

If you really want my opinion on the new site, just ask:D

Me too, that was quite useful

I tend to agree.  Wonder if we’ll like it better after we use it for a year.  Probably over budget, late, and fielded before it was thoroughly tested and ready for prime time but it’s considered 100 percent suitable and effective.

Like or be use to.  As common as it is, there really is no excuse for releasing a poorly designed site!

Yes, I know it's the norm, still doesn't make it acceptable.

BINGO!  That was just about my favorite page; as you say, very easy to get a holistic view of what the weather was going to be doing.

The more I think about it, I suspect this is the requirement's list given to the developers:

1) There are no new data sources, so just take the same old ones and make a pretty GUI with plenty of nested cryptic drop down menus.

2) Whatever you do, do NOT consult with any actual pilots.

I like the new layout and modernized gui. It takes a minute to relearn where things are but the web app based approach helps filter and provide more useful information instead of going through a bunch of different web pages.

Im sure this approach is WAY easier to keep updated and relevant as weather and time change.

Merry Christmas early everyone! I found an archived version of the old site that is still functional! Save/Bookmark this link:

Here is the super helpful thumbnail view. No more endless clicking to scroll through the "interactive" new map.

Thank you!

Wow.  I look at the old site, and I hear modem sounds. The 80's called.  They want their maps back.

Personally, I think the new site is an improvement.   I really like the view presented in "Tools" "Advanced Maps", and clicking on "Fronts" in the hamburger menu.  That presents a ton of info.  Like everything, it takes a while to get used to.
