The analog fuel gauges don’t seem to be reading well, nor do the wing sight gauges on the ground. Fortunately, the Shadin does as it was right when I topped off last time, thinking I would only be filling to 100 vs my full 118.

Board insights behind this & solutions?

Cheers,

Not much can go wrong with the wing gauges, but many have converted the fuel senders to CIES for better accuracy.

Thanks! the OEM analogs on the panel drift between 22-33 gallons, although I saw one show almost full (59 gal) yesterday. Been keeping a log since I ended up with full tanks on my first flight.

Yours is pretty new, but almost any system that involves electricity on these birds seems to deteriorate.  Could be wiring, or could be floats sticking inside the tanks.  Unless the tanks have been worked on recently, it seems unlikely the floats would be sticking and the previous owner didn't address the problem.

She sat for about 20 months waiting for belly parts outside in New England for 2 winters I’m told. I’m wondering if the floats just need some exercise.
Found some pictures of her from the day of the crash and was amazed at how much oxidation is on the paint now vs the day the incident occurred.

With that history, you may be playing Whac-A-Mole for a year or two.  Seems like the two things that accelerate deterioration the quickest are sitting out and disuse.

Well, it was operator error. Forgot about the Monroy fuel tank mod changing how the gauge reacts to fuel. Dawned on me this morning, new placard on the dash.  doh
