RoundTwo
Is there any special size/length helicoil needed for repairing hubcap threads in the magnesium wheels? Will 8-32x0.328” work?
mike_elliott
While never have done this personally, one of my clients' hangar elves carefully measured the depth of the existing hole, marked on the right sized bit with tape so he wouldnt drill too deep, then filled with JBweld, drilled and tapped. Says it was a great fix.
MatthiasArnold
To my best knowledge, European hangar elves successfully utilized this tool-set for the mentioned purpose in the past: https://www.voelkel-shop.com/en/thread-repair-kits-5-x-0-8-1-5d-volkel-04103.html Best, Matthias

jetdriven
Install it with green Loctite too. And then let it dry before you put the screw in there. Those things have a nasty habit of coming out with the screw which enlarges the wheel oversize yet again and it's really hard to fix that. Plus those wheel halves are pretty expensive when you price one.
