Aileron pushrods rubbing on access panel

Recommended Posts

Pulling access panels for my annual inspection for the mechanic and found this.  The right hand pushrod appears to have been rubbing on the access panel.  The left hand side is much less scratching.  I have never noticed anything in flight and don't recall working ailerons on ground and hearing any noises.  Mechanic has been notified but he isn't a mooney expert so any useful advice is appreciated.   Mark

There isn’t much space above the hole…

So with the inspection panel tucked up inside like in the picture…

You may have the answer…. :)

There are a lot of scratches now… but, it would be paintless and thinner if it was getting scratched continuously …

PP guessing only… not a mechanic…

Best regards,

It’s not uncommon to see light scuff marks from removing and installing the inspection covers, nothing to really get too worried about.  On some models you need to watch for screws rubbing and damaging the aileron push rods.

This will happen if the wrong length (too long) screws are installed.
