231MJ Posted February 20, 2023 Report Posted February 20, 2023 Filled my new O2 bottle on Friday and found the fill port was leaking after removing the fill hose. Screwing the cap on stopped the hissing but I noticed there was no rubber seal inside the cap so I'm sure it's still leaking (slowly) past the cap threads. Is the fill port something that can be repaired (maybe an o-ring)? I have not researched the parts book yet - anyone know if this is a Mooney part? Quote
kortopates Posted February 20, 2023 Report Posted February 20, 2023 It’s needs a new high pressure needle valve inside the port. Suggest pulling the port and sending it to https://www.c-l-aero.com/ they are a repair station for oxygen systems and components. It’s an inexpensive repair.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
231MJ Posted February 20, 2023 Author Report Posted February 20, 2023 Thanks, Paul, great to know this can be repaired. I've been using C&L for bottle and regulator recertification - really good service. As soon as the bottle pressure gets close to zero, I'll send it in. Quote
Z W Posted February 20, 2023 Report Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) The fill port is a Scott part, part number 26875-76. Bought a new one in October 2021 from wbparts.com for $600.52 shipped. Had to wait two weeks for it to ship. I believe the -76 part may have only been used on the M20K. https://www.wbparts.com/commercial-rfq/26875-76.html We didn't have any luck getting ours repaired, our A&P called a couple places but told us he never got a call back. In retrospect, I'd call C&L myself first if I were doing it again. Edited February 20, 2023 by Z W Quote
buddy Posted February 20, 2023 Report Posted February 20, 2023 C&L repaired my O2 port great job. The reason your port started leaking after a fill was probably caused the mechanic quickly opening his O2 tank to start the fill instead of introducing the O2 slowly. After my incident I always tell them to fill the tank slowly. Quote

If the valve "rattles' when filling, shut it down to where the rattling stops. That noise is the valve bouncing on the seat, which will wear it out way too soon. 1 Quote
