I have successfully installed two G5s with GAD29, GMU11 and GTP and connected them to my autopilot KFC200. Everything works as it should and I can even use GPSS. Now I plan to remove my King KI525A. Once I remove the connectors at the KI then I can't activate the HDG on the Monde controller. Can you tell me what step is needed to run the KFC200 without the KI525A with Garmin only? PeteMc Posted January 15, 2023 Report Share Posted January 15, 2023 I do not believe the G5 can be a replacement for the KI525A to drive the KFC-200. But do check with your Avionics Shop to make sure they have not made any changes to the G5. Jake@BevanAviation Posted January 15, 2023 Report Share Posted January 15, 2023 You have to keep the the KI256 for the attitude information, The G5 AI can not provide attitude information for the system but a GI275 can. The G5 and GAD29B will only provide GPSS, heading and course errors to the flight computer. Lateral and vertical deflection has to come from the primary navigator to the flight computer. Also, don't forget the compass valid (ground) to the flight computer. If you look at a G5 “compatibility chart” from Garmin, you’ll find a check mark in the box under kfc200. Unfortunately this isn’t the whole answer. It’s compatible with the heading function as you initially mentioned and will provide gpss. It is not compatible with the attitude input required by your kfc200.
