Here I go again. After a long time without producing any videos, I changed jobs, etc, I am sharing with you a video showing a landing of my Mooney on a grass strip.

I am also pointing out how I am using my AOA indicator.

Enjoy

Beautiful footage nicely accompanied by one of Santana’s most soulful compositions! What kind of external cameras are you using? The seem to dampen a lot of movement.

Thank you! I am using GoPro11 outside and a drift for the rudder. GoPros have image stabilizer

Oscar at home on grass strips…
if anyone asks if Mooneys are good on grass… Oscar Avalle has the answer right here!
having the AOAi probably simplifies things a bit.
Great video as always.
Best regards,

Thanks, indeed I believe you can land your Mooney on a grass strip. You have to be careful and make sure that the field is in good shape. But there are some asphalt runways that I would stay away from because they are not taken care off…

My M20J had about 400 hours of grass time

Now the Missile gets plenty of Lawn experience.

We keep the field in great condition with regular fertilizer, overseed, herbicide…

I kept lower gear doors on, but our turf runway is smoother than some asphalt I’ve been on.
