Leaking fuel tanks

Good question…

Most of the newer tanks including all of the LBs…

Were sealed in a modern way…

Using modern sealants…

Compared to older Mooneys…

It is highly unlikely you need a full strip and reseal…

if you are anywhere near one of the sealant guys… you might ask them… this is where you post your home drome in your avatar data…

There are shops in FL, TX, MN, and OR…?

And… if you really want to get creative… there have been a few people DIY it….

Got pics?

Best regards,

I'm no expert but a complete reseal is gonna cost you five digits by the time you're done.  I like what was said above if you can find someone to find your leak.  Wish I could find someone to find my weep.  I'll likely end up with a complete reseal.

How much should I expect to pay for resealing fuel tanks on an M20M 1993 with Monroy long range tanks?  Any recommendations on shops that will give firm quotes and stand behind their work?

The best shop with the best reputation is Weep No More in Wilmar, MN. They will give firm quotes, but usually have about a 9 month to a year waiting list, which should again tell you something about their work. No matter where you live in the U. S. it's still worth it to go there.

I have posted about this before. The folks that do full reseals are well known. The folks that are good at finding leaks and patching, not so much. Wish we had a list of the latter here at MooneySpace. Any AP should be able to do it, but most are not willing to try it.

Yep.  I’m scheduled for Sep 2023.

Actually many have tried it and know how to do it but are tired of dealing with customers who bring back every new leak and want it fixed free under "warranty" from the previous repair.    This really seems to be the main barrier.   I wish I had a nickel for every A&P who I've heard say this.
