SB M20-222b

Recommended Posts

Let’s say my memory isn’t that good… :)

Got a copy of the SB you can share?

got a pic of what you are looking for?

Which filter kit are we discussing?

Which boost pump do you have?

If you can bring me up to speed, I can invite somebody that has the answer you are looking for…

Sounds like you are looking for a screen that used to be installed downstream of the pump that would fall apart…

Some people replaced the faulty pump, and possibly skipped the unneeded screen…

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic…

Best regard,

SBM20-222B.pdf (mooney.com)

thats the link to the SB. the only thing i need is the fitting itself that attaches to the pump. The inline filter is still intact (we have the dukes 4140-00-19a)

This SB was done because the Dukes pump would self distruct and send plastic pieces downstream   You should send your dukes pump to https://aeromotors.azurewebsites.net/

they will rebuild it to be like a Weldon and run continuously.

The pump ad was complied with in '69 but from what i see in the updated AD list, the filter is still required unless the pump was switched to thee 4199-00-19a so from my understanding, the filter still needs to be in place.

For new Mooney parts… Dan at Lasar is incredibly helpful.  Or your favorite MSC…

If for some reason, new parts are not available…

For pre-flown Mooney parts…. Find @Alan Fox

sent a message to lasar so just waiting to hear back from them. i did find the part at napa but it says its carbon steel whereas the original fitting is brass so not sure if that will be an issue

Don’t accidentally turn your certified aircraft into an experimental aircraft… :)

Steel parts in your fuel line would be a really bad idea….

Some Mooneys, 65 and older used steel parts in the fuel tank… rust bits, mostly get strained out by the fuel separator…

Steel is bad.

For this type of discussion… ask your mechanic.

Note…

Some electric fuel pumps have time limitations for their operations…

There are also flap speed restrictions…

...and gear extended speed limitations…

At 1k’ agl the checklist indicates to put things away and turn off the pump….

Everyone has omitted these things at least once… :)

If swapping out the old pump… get the one that allows continuous duty…. Avoid wild pump vanes escaping captivity…

PP thoughts only…

Best regards,
