Do you get restless before challenging flights? Do you have trouble sleeping before a big flight? Or, do you avoid challenging flights or have a very relaxed schedule that allows greater flexibility? What kind of flights make you feel restless and which ones don't?

I'm not sure restless is the right term.  For me it's a mixture of excitement, anticipation, and caution.  For example if I need to be somewhere at a specific time or there's weather, I tend to think about it more.   What's the situation, what information do I have, what are my options, what are the limits to call it off, etc.  I tend to overthink it.

I guess it all comes down to weather.  Bad vis, rain, or low ceilings make the flight a little more nerve racking.   Normally i wouldn't fly but if i'm away from home and need to get home i'll do it.

I'm nervous/excited every time I fly. I hope I never get over that because it's all I dream about is when I get to go back up.

Agree with above question regarding anxiety  or anxiousness. Does your heart rate depict the stressfulness of the tough situation and if so when does it clear

EG. You depart in lower ceiling say 400’, what is your heart rate then if elevated when does it do back to normal.

Stress plays a role with n adrenaline which elevates heart rate. What is considered normal.

My guess is we all have differing normalcy

Compare that to other things that cause you restlessness… :)

Then compare your usual sleep schedule, sleeping environment, and usual things that help you get your usual sleep…

Do you use a device (Fitbit) that measures your sleep quantity/quality?

Typical OG thoughts only, not a sleep expert….

Best regards,

I find I get most restless when I’m going somewhere exciting.  A challenging flight to a funeral, I’ll sleep fine. An easy flight to explore someplace I’ve never been, up all night. It has more to do with the destination than the flight.
