Steve Dawson Posted January 5, 2022 Report Posted January 5, 2022 I have a 1990 Bravo that has the new style brakes and gear doors for the weight increase. I'm looking for a set of gear doors as well as the STC for this mod if anyone can help out. Thanks Quote

He added the dual puck brakes years ago and discovered some information about this conversion last year when he took a trip to Kerrville. Quote

(STC's are only for mods that don't originate by the manufacturer). Its merely a Mooney SB M20-248. You can download the SB from Mooney.com. The gear doors used after complying with the SB should be the same gear doors used on all longbodies ever since (current production), but will be the part # in your M20M Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) for Bravo's after serial 27-0052 https://www.mooney.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SBM20-248.pdf 1 Quote
Steve Dawson Posted January 6, 2022 Author Report Posted January 6, 2022 Hi Paul and Lance, My SN is 0047 so it was an update. I'm not sure why Mooney gave me these when the updated ones were what were ordered. Just waiting for their reply now. I just read the SB but it doesn't mention anything about different or re-arranged brakes or new gear doors. And I can't seem to find it in any topics here. Is anyone here familiar with this part of the MGW change? Thanks Steve Quote
kortopates Posted January 6, 2022 Report Posted January 6, 2022 Steve,The double puck Brakes, which is in a separate Mooney drawing, is the reason for requiring the new gear doors. The drawing is not available on the internet. But it also calls for the new trusses because the double puck brakes require a larger brake torque plate that attaches to the gear trusses. You’re right though, the SB makes no reference to the brake system drawing that adds the double puck brakes that became standard with the newer Bravo’s and all long bodies and M20K Encore’s going forward.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
