S-TEC Pressure Transducer in G1000 Mooney

Hey folks.  Still tracking down an annoying issue where my Flight Director goes schizoid when I engage ALT mode. I've always suspected this is something in the static line that is giving the pressure transducer for the 55x erroneous readings.  Sometimes when I engage alt-static this improves the performance, but sometimes not. Working with Savvy and S-TEC, they concur with my analysis, but S-TEC has no idea where the pressure transducer was mounted in these configs.  I've sent a note to Mooney support, but thought I'd open this up to the knowledgeable crowd here.  I would like to have a good idea about this before giving S-TEC's testing instructions to my shop, to avoid spending money having them hunt around for it.

Thanks!

FWIW, my aftermarket STEC30 has the transducer way up in the left side behind the panel, below the windscreen. Easy to tie in to the static line in that location, I suppose. I'd look there first if you don't get a definite answer.

Same location for the 60-2 in my C.

Same except 60-2.  1st pic is looking down thru the windshield to the pilot side, with the gear handle for ref.  You're looking at the 2" round blue thing about an inch thick.

Second picture, it is just to the left of the radio stack.  Look closely and you can see the static line to the center.  Mine is blue plastic, some are metal.

We had the same issue with an Ovation.  The transducer was located above and forward of the MFD.  the hose was to short and stretched to reach the transducer and eventually split.  It was blue and about 1-1/2” in diameter.

Thanks Clarence. I think that's the consensus location of the transducer, and it's interesting to hear that your static line had split. That has been my diagnosis for some time.  I am attaching the sheets from a parts manual that I got from another friend who has a Bravo with the G1000/S-TEC 55x, and this supports the location of the transducer right behind the MFD.  Others may find this of interest as well.

Cheers!

The Ovation I had in was having Alt hold issues as well.  Cabin heat and ventilation would drive it nuts.  The line was split at the transducer.
