Consider Subscribing and Fly Along! Good practice flight to Block Island (BID) down to Minimums RWY 28. RNAV LPV approach gets you down lower then a nan LPV. My instructor Mike was along and like always a great teacher. Thanks for Flying Along!

Enjoyed the video. It brought back a memory - sort of. Block Island was one of my two real missed approaches during my instrument training. Of course back then, it was the NDB 10 and my panel was a little :D different than yours!

Speaking of panels, I don't know the Dynon but the "approaching minims" and "minimums" callouts indicates the PFD allows you to bug the approach minimums. In that case, speak with your CFII about this: many glass panel CFIIs recommend using the minimums bug as your reminder but entering the altitude for the missed approach climb in the  altitude selector instead of the approach DA (for ILS and LPV).  The reason is to get ready for the missed. Even uncoupled, the FD is going to prompt that climb attitude.

Although the logic sounds like it would be similar, the typical recommendation is the opposite for the MDA - bug and select the MDA. The difference is that at DA, you will always miss or continue down. At a MDA, you might continue level for a while so you want the autopilot to capture it.

Dunno if that makes sense written out. It's one of those technique things which is why I suggest speaking with your CFII about it.

Wouldn't a full call sign, N6887N also be correct? I know it would be here.

It's correct but in the US, there's an underlying assumption - it's actually in our AIM guidance - that the "full" callsign  doesn't need to include "November." So initial call-up could be "Mooney 6887N" or "November 6887N."

AIM 4-2-4(a)(2). Civil aircraft pilots should state the aircraft type, model or manufacturer's name, followed by the digits/letters of the registration number. When the aircraft manufacturer's name or model is stated, the prefix "N" is dropped...

Later actions are based on what they call you, typically abbreviated to type and the last 3 characters of  the full call sign, but it's never :wrong" to give the full one..

agreed, would add use full whenever another similar sounding N number is on freq.   To be by the AIM “book,” even after they abbreviate to 41Hotel, correct reply is November 41Hotel or Mooney 41Hotel.  Not mandatory, AIM says “should” state Type
