Depends on your model year - The circuit board on mine showed a 2006 design. Your N-Number looks like a 2000 model, so you'll have to check your POH and see where the switch is. I think back in 2000, if memory serves me correctly, the Master interior light switch near the pilot's armrest turned off all interior lights, so if that was off when you locked up the airplane you were good. After that I believe they added the timed switch in the baggage compartment, but someone who has one near your model year will chime in, no doubt.

My master armrest switch was off, but the baggage area light still killed my battery.

What has me most baffled is I don’t know how it got turned on!

The switch gets bumped sometimes by taking baggage out - I think that was what led to the timer. An LED bulb in the existing would not drain the battery very fast (that's what I have in mine now).  https://www.superbrightleds.com/1156-led-light-bulb-with-stock-cover-36-smd-led-tower-ba15s-base+color-Cool~5700K+packamt-Single

Or Whelen makes a replacement interior LED assembly that fits in the same footprint.

Where is this switch turns this baggage-area light on (but not off) in the Ovation? I killed my battery the other night (timer failed?), and I don't even know how I turned the baggage light on!

I found the silly switch. I must've bumped it and either it stuck or the timer failed. Regardless, I've removed the bulb from the baggage area. Flashlight batteries are way cheaper.

my timer box failed two years ago, tried to buy the power transistor and eventually bought a used box from salvage, switch in luggage compartment can get sticky, $8 item, everything works fine now and really helps loading and unloading luggage when dark, however malfunction will kill expensive battery, when in doubt take bulb out until system is fixed

I have not sold a bunch of the timers I designed, so I can't say with assurance that they are fool-proof.  But they are so simple, I have a hard time believing they would have a longevity problem.
