Firefly
Trying to locate a cross reference part number for the Garwin starting vibrator 31-324. Not sure if the Bendix starting vibrator 10-176487-121 would be a replacement or would work. Any help or ideas. Thanks J
carusoam
Welcome aboard J! Have you seen the discussions regarding electronic mags..? A really cool way to determine the right part number... is to call Dan at Lasar... He can walk you through all the details... Best regards, -a-

Thanks J Yes, the 10-176487-121 is the correct replacement per the newest Mooney Parts Manual. Brand new ones are about $550 from Aircraft Spruce. A more cost effective option is to buy a used one from a fellow Mooneyspace member or off eBay, and then have your mechanic give it a once-over before installation. He should install a new capacitor and file/adjust the points. This option will cost about $200-300. But Anthony, above, mentioned the best option- install an electronic magneto replacement like the Surefly. For that money, you’ll come out ahead over the 2000 hour TBO of your engine.

Firefly
Thank you for reply’s. Much appreciated. I have a Bendix starting vibrator for the replacement. Ill call laser this morning. I’ll definitely consider going with an electronic replacement of the left mag. Once I get it get back to my home field. Matt Ward
I've got one on the shelf you can have for a song. It would need to be rebuilt but it was working (weakly) when I replaced it.
