Suction Meter

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

not much time ago I was reading the pilot manual for the kfc 200 autopilot and stepped over the description of KG 258 attitude reference indicator.

Obviously it's driven by a suction pump but in my Mooney I cannot spot anywhere a suction meter like in many other aircrafts. Is this a Mooney thing or is just mine missing it? :)

Thanks

Perhaps your model Mooney just has the hi vac/ lo vac annunciator lights?

This.  Mine didn't have a gauge, just an idiot light that rarely worked right.  I have one I bought from a fellow mooneyspacer to install but never did and now don't need it if you're interested.

The mid 90s there were no vac gauges to be found... just the idiot lights...

Flying in IMC, and not having a vac gauge is just uncomfortable... with a vac driven AI...

Somebody added a vac gauge like they installed an 8-track tape deck... huge and gaudy...   :)

When a tiny one on the instrument panel would be great!

Oddly the JPI doesn’t have a vacuum sensor... that I’m aware of...

Best regards,

Just a minor nitpick - I believe the KFC200 in our M20K's has the KI-256, not the KI-258 - the KI-258 was for the systems without a flight directror.

Not to nitpick, but... It's actually a KI 256 and a KG 258. :)

in my panel it is way over on the co-pilot side above the breakers. I can’t say the gauge is very helpful. It is in the green until it is not, pump failures tend to be sudden. Hard to tell from that old analog gauge if there is anything going on that I should know about. The annunciator by itself is just as good as a gauge like that.
