Great Grandpa’s railroad watch.

Lovely piece.  I've no railroad watches, I myself find them a bit inelegant and ungainly.  That, and they don't fit in a modern watch pocket (you ever wonder why there's a fifth pocket in a pair of jeans?).  Mine are all smaller and I think quite elegant.  I'll try and shoot some photos.

Hey, just like Judge in Caddyshack as stated by Rodney D....Awww, never mind.  So what did that baby set you back?  I am thinking you could buy a bulk pack of X number and resell on Ebay.  Engineers and mathematicians will flock to the nostalgia of that most wonderful decade: 1970’s....
Do you still roll with the red velour seats that Ricardo Montebahn made famous in his Corranado....”Look what they have done to my car?” As proudly worn by circa 1977 Mooney drivers.  Sweet.

Nine bucks shipped from eBay! It’s not a Chinese copy either.
The ETA movement in one of my analogue beaters couldn’t take the shock from the extremely rare but occasional fist blows and baton strikes.

A small army of other watches has accumulated here over many decades, a couple nice ones that were service awards or something, but because I tend to ruin watch faces by working on things without paying attention to the watch, I've rarely or never worn them.  :(

You just need a quality watch with a sapphire crystal. They're pretty much unscratchable.

The doesn't help with the grease/oil/solvent infusion or the rest of the case/band, though.   However, I did forget, again, and wore my new smart watch while helping my brother rebuild a rock wall, and it survived just fine.   Maybe I'm learning how not to ruin stuff or it's some decent new material.   Hmmm...  ;)

Come on man.  If your going to slang on my porn you have to give a little.  Let’s see what ‘cha got. :)

lol touche.  but I don't like to show off.  jk,  I'm a watch fanatic but made the choice to spend my money on flying more than watches.  I have a few queued up that I'm looking to get though and have a coupl'a watches that I rotate through, although I've been on a no watch kick for a while.

I prefer traditional wrist watches to Smart Watches”. Anyone else wear old school time pieces instead of computers on their wrist? Wrist watches are works of art. I feel naked without them. I do have a Garmin Approach for gps yardage on golf course, but that is as techy as I get on wrist calculators.  :)

You must have simian arms if you wear them all at once.

Now we’re talking.  The “Gold-Standard”xTwo.  Well played Eight8.  Well played indeed.  Love em!  Can anyone top this?  I have my idea, but I am going to hold off for other worthy contestants.

First I was thinking that people might get their house broken into by posting photos of their $100k watch collection. Then 88V showed us his German defence system...

That ain't nothin.

I was on a work trip about a year ago in Dresden Germany and we ended up on the weekend doing a tour in Saxony that included a stop in a watch making town where they specialized in one off-for commission Uber-expensive watches. For about two million euros you too can have a team of German watch makers design from scratch a watch for you and only you, exclusive single edition, with all the customized mechanical "complications" you desire.  Glashutte.

Those may not seem to go together because of their dramatically differing purpose.  But beyond rarity which is one reason they do go together, they certainly go together for sake of the perfection of mechanical design and execution.  My dad had. a very large gun collection of rare guns, that he loved to break down and re-assemble each time after shooting, and he also had a good sized watch collection, and also fine jewelry grade pens.

I love watches too. My grand father had a patek phillipe which I inherited and a gave it to my son. As they say in their add, you don't own a watch you just borrow it for a while and you give it on...

I have to admit that up until recently I had (in addition to my grand father's watch) a Rolex and a Breitling... I love my Rolex so much, that I ended up giving my Breitling to my other son. However, then I purchased a Apple Watch and I once I understood all its functionality it became the one that I am now wearing every day.

My every day watch is now the Apple Watch 6 with the O2 level and ECG, my hangar watch is the beat up Casio. The other three I earned from a company I used to work with. The GMT in 1989, the other Rolex in 1991 and they allowed me to take a Breitling Emergency in place of a Stainless Rolex in 2002. I need to send in the Rolexes for cleaning and service, anyone have a good connection?

Airplanes and watches. I really have found my people.

My most beloved (and the least worn) are the Submariner and the Glycine Airman. Both were gifts from my Dad. He bought the Glycine in 1959 at the PX in Guam on his first assignment in the Air Force. I love the 24 hour dial and it always confuses people when they look at it and realize it’s showing the “wrong” time.

The Seiko 5 is my beater. But it’s a fine budget automatic watch and keeps better time than the Rolex!

I’m mostly found wearing the IWC Mark or the Apple Watch on any given day. (Especially Apple this week—as you can see everything else has run down!)

Very nice.  A Submariner is a bucket list for me.  Really special that they were your fathers.
