nebhuskr123 Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 Hi, I have a JPI EDM 700 in my ‘66 C and need to remove OAT and IAT functions that were previously installed but removed. Anyone know how to reconfigure to not have these functions cycled through? Thanks, Mike Quote
khedrei Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 I believe that any mods needed to be done to the EMD need to be done by them. So you might have to send the unit back. People with more knowledge than me will surely have some input soon. Quote
Andy95W Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 Call JPI. Their tech department is very good and will let you know. I guarantee they've seen this before. What's odd is that the JPI finds new probes when you plug them in. I'm surprised it doesn't realize that they're not plugged in anymore. Quote
carusoam Posted June 9, 2020 Report Posted June 9, 2020 Often a JPI is self configuring... They detect sensors attached... then display them... No sensor attached, it gets ignored... See if this gets explained in the installation manual for your JPI device... JPI is pretty good about putting manuals on line... PP thoughts only, not an instrument tech... Best regards, -a- Quote
Ross Taylor Posted June 9, 2020 Report Posted June 9, 2020 A bit off topic...in the sense that we just removed a 700 with a bad display and installed a 730 in its place...but the reconfiguration question seems to apply to our new 730 as well. Upon powering up the 730, it displayed a "C10 Sensor Detected" and thus far neither I nor my A&P can find any info about that online. I'm guessing our E has a sensor that I didn't know about (because of the bad 700 display) and so I didn't include it on the 730 order form. I did email JPI about it last night, so I'll report back what they tell me about that sensor message and how to reconfigure it (in case someone else encounters this). Quote
nebhuskr123 Posted June 9, 2020 Author Report Posted June 9, 2020 Yeah I bought mine used and it had OAT. Then I had Carb temp installed but just had it moved to a CGR30C. Both functions still cycle through when I fire it up. 4 hours ago, Ross Taylor said: A bit off topic...in the sense that we just removed a 700 with a bad display and installed a 730 in its place...but the reconfiguration question seems to apply to our new 730 as well. They said they had never heard of that error code and actually asked me to take a photo of it. It showed up the first two times we powered it up, but after going into the menu to set the time and all that the message disappeared and hasn't come back. Our outside air temperature is not showing up on the 730, but he said that's because there must be an issue in the wiring. He said that once the OAT sensor is connected it will automatically show up on the display. At least for the 730, he said new sensors will show up. I did not ask about the 700 though. Sorry... Quote
