I had seen in one of your FB posts about the S-Tec servos working with the Dynon.  I just want to confirm, these are the servos they have been using for years now?  Not some new servo S-Tec is putting out?  I already have an S-Tec 50 in my plane and if the servos are good to go, that is a lot of labor that can be saved as well as not buying new servos.

My plan is to go with a single 10" screen and then an iPad on the CP side.  I already have an IFD-440 and a Lynx so I will keep those.  Attached is a possible layout I have been playing with.

Love your layout!  You will not have to get new servos.  You can use the ones your currently have.  It will save you money for sure. $$$

I am hoping to pick up my Mooney tomorrow.. Fingers crossed.   I been messing with the Dynon display and we are both going to love HDX.

..huh - that is interesting.  One can use Stec servos already installed? Maybe?  Is that true of other autopilot serves already installed maybe?

That is what a service guy told me.  I also miss spoke and Dynon as their own servos made by Dynon.  There was a miss understanding on my part. Sorry about that.

Dagnabit!  Just getting my Dynonitis under control when you show up with another video!  I got an S-Tec, where did you hear the S-Tec servos would work?

I can tell you from experience you’re going to have to rethink the fit of this. Shifting the radios right is probably not the best option. That Dynon screen on the right 100% will not fit. It BARELY fits if you leave the radios in the center.

Great pics, Chris..!

For anyone looking closely...

There are a few tubes that make spacing a challenge...

That center tube splits into an inverted Y, as seen at the top of the radio stack...

The yoke also has a touch of 3D motion to it... it moves a bit vertically from where it passes through the panel...

Invite for @willerjim273 to stop by this thread...

Best regards,

-a-

On the right side, If you are going to do a 10 inch screen, you have about 1/2 inch horizontally and vertically where it's going to fit.  It WILL fit.  but barely and requires modification to the tray.

I also don't recommend doing it outside, in the south, in the heat, in the sun.  Although doable, it's quite unpleasant.

Thanks for the input but actually on the right side in my possible layout is not a Dynon screen but a full size iPad.  That is just one of about a dozen different layouts that I am considering.  Some of them keep the radios in the center and others move them to the right a little bit.  My intent is that once I pull the trigger and pick a shop I will sit down with them and go over my options and see what they say is possible and see if they have any other ideas I had not considered yet.

Here is another option I am considering.  What irks me about this layout is not having the main screen centered in front of the pilot.

Even though the screen is not centered, the tapes are. It’s actually the recommendation and might even be required. (I don’t remember)

you should have a read through the manual. It covers this specifically.

his is what the layout looks like in a 231.  Mine is in the shop now - it's in the tear-out phase.

For possible future reference, can you please post a CAD file, or something similar that a metal shop can use to cut a panel?

As a follow up to the question about the autopilot servos I contacted Dynon for clarification. Per Dynon tech support, you MUST use Dynon servos with the Dynon autopilot system.

Thank you sir!  I will relay this info also.
