Late today, word came that the production line will restart next week,
> with a revamped product line. While the Acclaim will remain at the top
> of the lineup, the all time favorite M20J, 201 will return, with
> numerous upgrades. It will feature a Dynon Skyview panel, with an
> Avidyne IFD-550 for IFR, the Dynon autopilot, with an optional yaw
> damper. The gear will be revised to return to the old reliable Johnson
> Bar. The engine will be the Lycoming IO-390, with SureFire electronic
> ignition to eliminate hot start issues. Exhaust will be upgraded to a
> fully tuned header system to deliver full rated output to the prop.
> Propeller will be a 2 bladed Hartzell carbon fiber prop. With the
> current fiberglass fuselage skin improving aerodynamics and additional
> power, top speed will increase to 215 mph, and cruise speeds of 190
> mph are likely.
>
> To take advantage of the burgeoning training market, the M20D will return.
> Wing production will be fully automated, with the fuel tanks wet riveted
> with ProSeal. To reduce costs, a return to volume production will be
> initiated, where parts are produced 100-200 at a time. The fixed gear will
> have the latest pressure recovery wheel pants, allowing superior economy to
> the common Piper Archer, and superior speed. A thorough re-engineering of
> the flight control system will achieve very light and well balanced flight
> controls.

WOW!

Will the Ovation still be produced?

I am stunned - that they are going back to the J - but a better version - and with the beloved J-bar - ....

wait a second - wait a second - did you hear that the Governor of Texas has postponed April fools day to August first due to the CV19 pandemic.  So please save your cruel cruel joke until then.

I would think that anyone buying a new $ 800,000 single engine airplane , that really is nothing more than an expensive toy, would want the best built , safest, fastest  best looking , and most automated airplane they can buy , with service to match.( they will be catered to) . A manual anything won’t be in the picture.   These airplanes will need to be more expensive, with more features. And better marketing and dealers. , it isn’t going to happen.

Since it's an April fool's thread, let me go ahead and say I'm paying for everyone's annual this year.

Since you posted today instead of yesterday, I'll forward the bill I'm expecting to receive next week. Thanks!!!
